PILOT
Innovation Workshop
Who is it for? Teams who want to see their technology from an external perspective for the first time: ahead of a trade fair, before submitting an application, or before deciding on a long-term partnership.

The exterior view in a day. 3,500 EUR.

  1. Consultation: technology, team, desired outcome, date, venue (at your premises or at FUNKEN).
  2. Curation: FUNKEN suggests two or three artists whose practice complements your technology. You have a say in the decision.
  3. The case: Before the meeting, your team packs materials, tools, images and traces of everyday life. The artists pack theirs. The discussion begins with objects, not presentations.
  4. The day: A tandem of an artist and your team works in the workshop. A Creative Catalyst from FUNKEN acts as a bridge between the different working methods and facilitates the process.
  5. An evening showing, either internal or public.
  6. Four weeks later, the documentation.

What emerges. Guaranteed: a model or a scenography, three pages of ideas, visuals for your communications, and the documentation. Possible: an initial application idea that makes collaboration worthwhile.

What you bring to the table. A day’s time for the members of your team who are familiar with the technology, a packed suitcase, and the willingness to spend a day not knowing what the outcome will be.

Price and services. €3,500. Included: fee, Creative Catalyst, preparation, materials up to a certain limit, presentation, documentation. Date by arrangement.

Reference. This is how the first pilot went, in June 2026, with Kreatives Sachsen: three tandems with Fusion Bionic (laser surfaces modelled on nature), Cewus (materials testing) and MeTech (human and technology, Chemnitz University of Technology). By the evening, three visions of the future were on display in an architectural model of the mechanical engineering hall; the following day, they were presented to the public at Makers United in the Stadthalle. “This exchange gave us the space to take a step back and consider the long-term vision behind our technology,” said Monja Winkel of Fusion Bionic. “You don’t really think about it in everyday life – that other people find what I do exciting,” said Theresa Schubert of Cewus.
